Rakurou Hizutome, a high school student, plays poorly made games with in-game name Sunraku, which he shares with a small group of fellow enthusiasts. He's introduced to Shangri-La Frontier, a well-known virtual reality game, as a change of pace from the low-quality games he's been playing.
