Sousuke Banba's investigation into the Kagewani monster hybrids continues after the Sarugaku headquarters incident. With his newfound ability to harness the Kagewani's power, he can eliminate the creatures but this comes at the cost of his sanity, which is increasingly threatened by the power's influence. His mental state makes him a target for both old and new threats, including an assassin driven by a personal vendetta and the resurgent upper echelons of Sarugaku.
