Minase Mai is a player of the MMORPG "The World" who suffered a mysterious illness after hearing a strange sound while playing. Her friend Tomonari Kasumi collapsed during the same incident and remains in a coma. Mai is approached by the game's creator, Tokuoka Junichiro, who informs her that six other players across Japan have also collapsed into comas while playing "The World." The investigation into the cause of these incidents, led by Mai, Junichiro, and their associates, seeks to determine the relationship between the game and the mysterious symptoms.
