Iroha Inukai, a second-year junior high school student, lives in Animal Town where humans and animals coexist. Her constant companion is Komugi, a dog who becomes a key figure in her life. During one of their walks, Iroha and Komugi cross paths with Gargal, a mysterious creature causing chaos in the city. When Komugi transforms into Cure Wonderful, a Pretty Cure, it's Iroha who benefits from the transformation as she gains a protector.
