Arata Kasuga's life takes a drastic turn when the sun stops shining, causing a phenomenon known as the Breakdown Phenomenon that destroys his town and causes its inhabitants to disappear. After utilizing a magical grimoire given by his cousin Hijiri, Arata's world is artificially restored. Lilith Asami appears, revealing that his artificial world is fragile and that he must choose between handing over the book or dying; instead, Arata decides to attend Royal Biblia Academy, a top-secret magic school where he meets six other magical users.
