The Patrian civil war led to the creation of half-human, half-beast soldiers known as Incarnates, who possessed godlike abilities that quickly turned the tide of battle in their favor. However, as the war progressed, the Incarnates faced issues with the beasts inside them that couldn't be resolved through ordinary means. After the war, rumors and accounts of Incarnates being hunted by Beast Hunters emerged, who would put down those struggling with the trauma of their experiences. Hank Henriette, a former Incarnate captain, became a Beast Hunter, but his past informs his actions.
