The Morose Mononokean

Hanae Ashiya's start to high school has been plagued by an inexplicable condition, which has left him in the infirmary for most of the first week. A mysterious fuzzy creature has attached itself to him since he found it before school began and has only grown in size as his health continues to decline. Desperate for a solution, Hanae discovers a flyer for an exorcist who expels youkai and contacts the service, leading him to the Mononokean, a tea room that suddenly appears near the infirmary. There, he meets Haruitsuki Abeno, a morose-sounding man who agrees to help Hanae, but only if he pays a steep fee – an arrangement that ultimately forces Hanae to become an employee at the Mononokean to work off his debt.
