Tamai Shiina befriends a creature during her summer vacation at her grandparents' house, which she names Hoshimaru, a term used to describe a type of celestial body. When Shiina returns home, she encounters other children who have formed bonds with similar creatures. However, not all these relationships are as harmonious as hers with Hoshimaru, as Shiina discovers that some of the creatures' masters have ulterior motives.
