The continent of Atlatan is plunged back into war after the Great Hall Tragedy, a catastrophic event that occurred during the marriage of Sir Alexis Douse and Lady Marrine Kreische. The peaceful union was disrupted by a powerful convergence of Chaos, a dark energy that corrupts the land and summons forth monsters and demons. Siluca Meletes, an Alliance mage, meets Theo Cornaro, a young warrior wielding the Crest, a magical symbol that allows its wielder to banish Chaos. Siluca joins Theo on a journey to restore balance to their war-torn land, motivated by his goal of freeing his hometown of Sistina from its tyrannical ruler.
