The Tendou family is led by Soun Tendou, who operates the Tendou Martial Arts School with the help of his three daughters: Akane, Nabiki, and Kasumi. Their lives are complicated when Soun announces plans to marry one of the sisters to a fellow martial artist's son to preserve the family legacy. The fiancé's arrival brings Ranma Saotome, who has been training with his father Genma in China. Ranma's life changes after an accident, causing him to transform into a girl when water touches him, while Genma turns into a giant panda.
