Phoenix: Karma Chapter

Akanemaru, a skilled sculptor, searches for inspiration for his masterpiece, the immortal bird Phoenix, which he's determined to complete. His journey leads him to cross paths with Gaou, a ruthless one-eyed, one-armed bandit, who attacks and robs him despite Akanemaru's friendly nature. Years later, their lives take separate turns, with Akanemaru getting reassigned and abandoning his dream, while Gaou faces unforeseen misfortune. This turn of events sets the stage for their future encounter as rival adversaries.
