Natsume's Book of Friends Season 7 Special revolves around Natsume's continued growth as he navigates high school life. Despite initial struggles to come to terms with his ability to see youkai, he has formed strong bonds with humans and spirits alike, including his guardian Madara, known as Nyanko-sensei. Natsume's relationships and friendships with youkai are often intertwined with his responsibility to return the names of the spirits in the Book of Friends, a family keepsake passed down from his grandmother Reiko.
