Love and Lies

Love and Lies is set in a futuristic Japan where the government has implemented the Red Threads of Science system to promote successful marriages and combat low birthrates. This system assigns 16-year-olds marriage partners based on compatibility calculations, with severe consequences for those who refuse to comply. Yukari Nejima, who considers himself average, defies the system to confess his love to Misaki Takasaki, his classmate and long-time crush. After initial hesitation, Misaki reciprocates, but Yukari's assigned partner, Ririna Sanada, becomes entangled in their illicit romance.
