Ayumu Fujino, a talented fourth-grader, was known for her impressive manga artwork in her school newspaper. However, her teacher assigned her slot to Kyomoto, a truant student, which sparked Fujino's competitive spirit. Fujino devoted herself to learning and improving her manga skills, but her goal of outshining Kyomoto eventually seemed unattainable.
