Le Cirque de Karakuri

Narumi Katou, a middle-aged man with ZONAPHA Syndrome, experiences seizures at random, which are only alleviated by watching someone laugh. One day, he encounters Masaru Saiga, a young boy fleeing from three adults who work for his family's business after his father's death. Narumi helps Masaru escape and fights off his pursuers, discovering they're superhuman puppets.

The pursuers are eventually joined by a white-haired girl named Shirogane, who claims to be Masaru's guardian and helps Narumi fend them off. Shirogane summons a puppet from Masaru's suitcase, setting the stage for a story about the intertwined fates of three people as they unravel an ancient mystery.
