Jiu Se Lu

A Persian merchant becomes lost during a windstorm and encounters a rare, nine-colored spiritual deer that guides him. In return for its help, the deer expects discretion from the merchant. The merchant eventually reaches an imperial palace, where the king orders a hunt for the deer to create clothing from its skin, prompting the merchant's greed. He leads an army in pursuit, but ultimately meets his demise in the river when the deer's intervention again proves futile.
