Etotama revolves around Nyaa-tan, a cat Eto-musume who participates in the ETM12 ritual, a 60-year cycle where celestial beings are chosen to represent the Chinese zodiac. To secure one of the 12 zodiac member positions, Nyaa-tan needs to acquire 12 seals, which she must earn through battles using Sol/Lull, energy derived from people's positive emotions. However, her powers are significantly lower than those of the Eto-shin, so she requires a constant energy source. Nyaa-tan's fortunes change when she meets Takeru Amato, a transfer student who possesses high-quality Sol/Lull.
