The anime Croisee in a Foreign Labyrinth The Animation is set in the late 19th century, when Japanese culture was becoming increasingly popular in the West. Yune, a young Japanese woman, travels with Oscar, a Frenchman, from Japan to France, where she offers to assist at his family's ironwork shop in Paris. Claude, Oscar's nephew and shop owner, agrees to take Yune in, and the story explores the developing relationship between the two, who come from vastly different backgrounds and cultures.
