The Layzner OVA offers a distinct alternative retelling of the original TV series. It includes a recap of the first 24 episodes in the first episode, titled "Eiji 1996", covering the same narrative as the TV's initial part. The two subsequent episodes, "Le Caine 1999" and "Seal 2000", pick up the story after a time skip, with "Le Caine 1999" covering episodes 26-37 and "Seal 2000" expanding on the final episode with new animation and a longer epilogue.
