The Xenogenesis Assault Team (XAT) was formed to combat the Amalgam threat in modern Germany, where these cybernetic entities are spawned from rotting flesh and can merge with technology. Joseph Jobson, an amalgamated human with rational thought, possesses full control over his powers and operates as a skilled lone warrior. However, his encounter with the recently-turned-Amalgam Gerd Frentzen makes him a priority target for the XAT, prompting him to join forces with other allies and assume the identity of the Blassreiter, a being with enhanced abilities.
