The story of Barangay 143 begins with the tragic death of Roberto "Basti" Sebastián, Jr., son of Coach Sebastián, who was killed by a gunman from a large syndicate. This event had a significant impact on the basketball team, leading to their downfall as the Powerhouse team. Meanwhile, Bren Park, a Korean basketball player, has quit the sport after a family tragedy in South Korea. He later discovers he has Filipino roots and travels to Manila to find his long-lost relative, joining the Puzakals of Barangay 143 along the way.
