Zuo Yunqi joins the imperial court as a spy, disguised as an ordinary young master, to protect his father. He's exposed by a skilled counter-spy and they engage in a battle of wits. After foiling a conspiracy together, they learn about a secret alliance of traversals aiming to overthrow the current government and establish a more peaceful society.
