The Republic of San Magnolia has been under siege by the Giadian Empire for a long time. The Republic developed autonomous drones in response, which they claim have eliminated casualties in the conflict. However, this is not entirely true. The Eighty-Six Sector, outside of the fortified Republic territories, is home to young men and women who are branded as the Eighty-Six. They pilot the Republic's autonomous drones, stripped of their humanity and autonomy.
